Welcome, my name is Shawn Rundblade and in 2018 I want your support during the midterm elections for the U.S. House. I’m running for the 5th Congressional District in Wisconsin, and it will be a big hill to climb.
I will be up against Republican Rep. James Sensenbrenner who has held office since 1978. I think that is far too long for anyone to hold a particular seat. I hope to change that in 2018.
It’s becoming increasingly clear that the 2018 midterm elections will be one of the most important elections in recent memory. Our freedoms are being challenged, the foundation of our country is being attacked, and we are facing a division in our country that we haven’t seen in decades. My goal as congressman will be to promote unity and peace, and help move our country forward. I will stand up for the average American because I am and average American. I know what it’s like to be worried that the next month may be a little tight on money, or what would happen if I got sick or hurt.
I am running under the Democratic banner, though I look forward to working with the moderate Republicans who are willing to work across the aisle. My goal is simple: I want to take care of our people, make our economy stronger, and move our country forward. I was moved and motivated by the Bernie Sanders movement, and pushed to finally run by the results of the November elections.
Please make sure you head over to The Issues page to see a more detailed view of where I stand, but here are the big points:
- Equality for everyone, no matter the race, religion, sexual orientation, or ideology. So long as someones beliefs do not impede or stifle others beliefs we should not stand in their way.
- Healthcare for everyone because it’s a basic human right. The United States in the only major country that does not provide healthcare for all of its citizens. We need to take a stand and ensure that everyone has care if they get hurt, or become ill and need care. A person should not choose between life and death based on income.
- Our country was built with the help of immigrants. While I agree we need a reform on immigration, we cannot turn our backs on those who have come to our country for a better life, and want to contribute to our already great country. Deporting 11 million people that are contributing to our economy would be a disaster not just for the families of those affected, but for our country as well.
- I have a six year old daughter, and I want to be sure that she has the best education that she can get. I want to work with education professionals and find ways to fix our broken school system. We are no longer competitive in the global market from an education standpoint. Our test scores are falling behind, and the general comprehension is incredibly lacking.
I look forward to having your support and working to represent you the people when I’m elected. I am a huge supporter of being open and available to the people and I invite you visit my Reach Out page to leave feedback and ask questions.
